What Is MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease. In this condition, the immune system mistakenly attacks the healthy nerve cells. It is seen commonly in women in their middle age. The symptoms, severity and duration can vary from person to person. The attacks may be mild in some patients. In some others, the attacks may be very severe and disabling.

Types of Multiple sclerosis

  • Clinically isolated syndrome (CIS)
  • Relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS)
  • Primary progressive MS (PPMS)
  • Secondary progressive MS (SPMS)

Risk factors of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

  •         Obesity in early life
  •         Cigarette smoking
  •         Diet
  •         Vitamin D deficiency


The treatment is based on the disease severity and is different from patient to patient.
