
Myasthenia
gravis (MG) is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that
causes weakness in the skeletal muscles, which are responsible for voluntary
movements. It occurs when the immune system produces antibodies that disrupt
the communication between nerves and muscles, leading to muscle fatigue and
weakness.
Symptoms of Myasthenia gravis
- Drooping of eyelids
- Blurring of vision/Double vision
- Difficulty swallowing
- Loss of facial expression
- Difficulty talking
- Difficulty in breathing
- Fatigue
- Weakness
Diagnosis
of Myasthenia
gravis
Myasthenia gravis needs to suspected in people with fatigue, fluctuating
weakness and drooping of eyelids. Along with this to confirm some diagnostic
tests are also used.
