Vertigo

Patients with vertigo have a sense of spinning of the body or the room with vomiting at times. It is one of the commonest problems encountered by people at least once in their lifetime.

Causes

• Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
• Posterior circulation stroke
• Viral infections
• Meniere's disease
• Vestibular migraine
• Drug toxicity
• Chiari malformation

Symptoms

• Spinning sensation of head or body or surroundings around them
• Blurring of vision while moving
• Feeling of a sensation of being pulled to the ground
• Nausea and vomiting sometimes

Treatment

Symptomatic treatment with medications can be done. Treatment of the identified cause will also help in the recovery of the patient. Rehabilitation exercises also play a very prominent role in the management of vertigo.
